Soil Aerator
Compacted soils effect soil health in a variety of ways including limiting normal water infiltration, and limiting plant root access to nutrients.
An AerWay Soil Aerator was purchased with funding from the New Hampshire Association of Conservation Districts Innovative Demonstration Projects in partnership with the Natural Resource Conservation Service. The aerator will add pores to the soil and loosen compaction without damaging soil structure as often happens with tilling practices. With less compaction, farmers can see an increase in soil permeability and productivity without using fertilizers, therefore reducing polluted runoff into Great Bay.
